Louise and I lucked out on our bus tickets - we got the front seats, top tier of a double decker bus….now this is the way to travel….one seat, one bum, is my goal so this was waaay over the top and made me very very happy. Sad for Louise, she was only going a few hours and I left her half way between David and Panama city – just left her at the one and only stop the bus makes on that route – she headed south for her last week in Panama – I managed to find Carolyn and Colin (a guy from Edmonton who also was at the conference in David) in a downtown Hotel…..fancier than I am used to with a rooftop pool and splendid vista over the City. Oh so much luxury in one day!
The two of them headed off the next day to go touring and I chose to go to the mega Albrook Mall for a day of wandering and shopping. Total bliss after not shopping for months. Although I really cannot buy anything because \i have no space – I loved every minute of being in the crazy large, fancy mall with every well-known store, multiple food courts and just familiar 'stuff’. I loved it so much I stayed for 7 hours – had planned to see a movie but school is not yet back in – next week, and there were too many kids at the cinemaplex. Got back to the hotel exhausted and packed up for the flight to Ecuador the next day.
Carolyn and I arrived in Guayaquil Ecuador mid-afternoon, took a taxi to a guesthouse I had written down but not reserved and got their last room. Lucky lucky because it turned out to be really really nice, ok price - $20 each with breakfast, and best of all perfect location right in the center of the city.
