Onwards to Switzerland
Well we were up before 6am thanks to a persistant mosquito - there's an interesting difference in how Glenn and I view mosquitoes and this is reflected in our sleeping arrangements - I spent all night under covers getting hardly any sleep because it was too hot but woke up this morning with no mossie bites at all, whereas Glenn lay on top of the bed all night, happily snoring away, oblivious to the fact that he was breakfast, dinner and tea for the little sod. Today Glenn looks like he has chicken pox as a result, whereas I'm struggling not to nod off on the back of the bike - not sure whose approach is right here!!
Anyway we left Florence at 7.30am and stopped for lunch in beautiful Lake Como, where the sun shone and we lay about on the grass by the side of the water for an hour before heading on our way again. Yet again we've gone from one extreme to another in the temperature, shedding clothes up til lunchtime, and then putting them all back on again as we rode into Switzerland and it got steadily colder. Switzerland is very different to Italy - lots of beautiful lakes and mountains, no tailgating whatsoever, though everything is very expensive, and we've found more Americans here too - yay!! Tonight, since checking into the hotel, we've been for a walk in the sun to see the lake and had a meal outside the hotel and the weather is now lovely. Fingers crossed it stays that way for tomorrow's trip into Germany and our last night away.
