Wow we finally arrived on our travells, and what a shock it was for us. Not just the heat, or the hastle and bustle, but people spotting white travellers - FRESH BAIT and FULL POCKETS - as they guessed. A guy on the train trying to tout us to get commission, tuk-tuk drivers trying to get us to go with them so they can take us to silk and tailor shops for comission and people selling stuff on the street. We finally got to our hotel in a meter taxi, the only reliable taxies. Our hotel was really nice, a welcome relif from the busy traffic and the heat. We showered and rested the braved the outside once again. How many times can two people say no to a taxi in 10 minutes is unreal!! But with a bit of messing around we managed to make a couple of phone calls and get a really nice green curry from one of the 4 hotel resteraunts. Then it was time to hit the hay!! After a good nights sleep it was strange waking up realising the years travel had began, and it was time to do stuff - but WHAT????? We head off outside back into the heat after eating rice and other stuff at the hotel for breakfast. We decided to go and do some sight seeing for a couple of days, we visited a HUGE golden buddah. Man I never knew it was so big, it took ages just to walk around it and it was so tall. He was called a reclining buddah, as he was lying on his side, how much gold went into this we could never know. We went on a river taxi a couple of times meeting a monk and various travellers on the way. The tuk-tuk drivers were driving us crazy and it was so hard to find places, plus the culture shock we only stayed a couple of days. We visited the night markets and had fun bartering for clothes, one woman was so funny I nearly let her off and paid more, but Jodie would not let me :). Bangkok is ok but we had enough quickly and set off on the night train to Chiang Mai booking a three day two night trek on the way. It included a futher 2 nights in a guest house with meals fo 60 quid for the pair of us.
