We woke up early on the 3rd and packed our final bits in the car. We said our final goodbyes to Terry and Cheryl before heading on the road. We drove a long day across south Australia with one or two stops for short breaks, and made it to Cemudra beach where we set up our tent for the night. back to our camping dinners mmm. We treated ourselves to an episode of Fawlty Towers before bed.
The next day we had an early start again and got back on the road. We drove till lunch and had a stop at a road house for a cuppa. We then realised we'd gain 3 hours when we cross the border. We then drove through the border and through quarantine where some guy confiscated our potatoes and honey :-(
We continued on the road with a few stops umming and arring when to stop. We eventually made it to a town called Norseman about 6ish local time, it was then we realised we'd actually been on the road for 10 hours, covering 1200 km! Woah! Not again. But now we had shorter drives for the next 2 days. We pulled into a campsite and enquired about pitches. The woman was a bit funny with us and soon admitted to us that there'd been a break into the camp kitchen area the night before. Some aboriginals had smashed some areas so there was no where for us to cook. When we wondered what to do she then said she'd give us a cheap deal on a cabin for the night and gave us one for $44! We accepted and were very excited when we saw inside. It had a stove, kettle, toaster tv, bed, table evrything!!! Yey no camping. But we were still a bit freaked by the break in the night before but at least we were in a locked room for the night.
Well, we had a lie in the next day then packed the car and set off. Literally as I've just been writing this blog I've had to put it away in the car cuz we were just a second ago pulled over by the police! I looked up and saw flashing lights. The police car was coming in the opposite direction and did a U-y and turned around behind us. We were really nervous as the 2 cops got out the car. They told us we'd been speeding oops! They asked for Graemes liscence and went off to check it. Luckily they came back and gave us a warning. They were actually really kind and said you're obviously travelling from England the $150 fine you could use for your trip, BE WARNED THOUGH! PHEW! On we drove. We passed a few more police cars on the way, but were going very slow now!!
We eventually arrived at a town called Hyden where we camped up for the night. it was right next to Wave Rock so we had a quick walk to see it, and then headed to the tent to watch a film.
The next morning we did the circuit walk up and round the wave rock and then another walk to see the Hippo's mouth rock and the Breakaways. We then set off again in the car to get to Perth for the night to Martin and Sophie's.
