We finally crawled out of bed around 1ish…… well I crawled out of bed, I left Rachel in the room still nurturing her hangover and headed to 7-Eleven to grab a couple of cheese and ham toasties and lots of water. On the way I saw a few signs for another pool part at our hotel the following night, result. We started sobering up and then lazed around the pool at the hotel overlooking the sea, relaxing with a bit of a swim, reading our books and sunbathing. We then headed out in the evening for some grub and a wonder along the sea front before heading back to the room.
The following day (3rd) we were supposed to be leaving but as there was to be a pool party we decided one more night wouldn't hurt (of course we were wrong it hurt big time the following day). We went to the hotel restaurant to get breakfast, beans and cheese on toast mmmmm, its been ages since I have had that I thought. It finally came out, 2 of the smallest slices of toast I've ever seen, a cheese slide (the like you put on burgers) and about 10 beans, I nearly cried.
We then headed to the beach and got some lie lows on the way. We spent the rest of the day relaxing on the beach and in the sea floating on our lie lows, watching fish swim past and having lie low battles with one another. Needless to say I won every time, most of the time I didn't even need to knock Rachel off she just lost her balance.
We then headed back and got freshened then headed back to the beach and had a meal on the sand, first time I've tried shark, very tasty. We then headed back just in time to catch the vodka bucket special offer, a bucket of vodka Redbull for £4.50 not too bad. We pottered round the pool chatting to people and jumping in a few times to freeze ourselves. Rachel managed to get chatted up again twice, which shows she's still got it a lot more then me. She reckons I got chatted up as well but I'm sure the guy (yes guy) was just being friendly, although he did give me his number and asked me to call him to meet up in Oz, I have since accidentally put the number in the wish.
We hung around till around 1ish but not many people showed up and people were starting to leave so in the end we headed over to the beach with a guy from Hong Kong who was extremely wasted and someone from Oz who had been travelling for 7 years. We partied on the beach hoping between bars till around 5 when we decided to call it an early night.
We woke up the following day needless to say much later then the 11am checkout time. I went straight outside and through myself in the freezing cold swimming pool so I managed to pull myself together a lot quicker than Rachel. After sorting ourselves out we went to grab some food in the hotel restaurant. As this was our last full day in Thailand I got myself a traditional Pat Thai mmmmm, the last one in Thailand for a while. We then grabbed our bags and went to check out having to pay the massive fine of £3.30 for being late. As we weren't being picked up till 8:30pm we wasted some time by wondering round the town, then over to the beach, then in a bar watching Friends, then reading by the pool. We finally went for our last Thai Green and yellow curry and possible the best coconut shake so far before being picked up and taken to the ferry port.
We were very excited as we had experienced many night buses and trains but no night ferry's yet. We arrived and got guided to the boat and went up stairs and just saw a long deck with mattresses laid out along the sides and all numbered 1 to about 80. We found our 2 and sat down, after trying to get the fan to work for half an hour I realised we were the only ones to have been given a dud fan and gave up. We crawled into our sleeping bag liners to avoid the black bugs I had seen crawling on the mattresses, (I didn't tell Rachel this at the time), and we fell straight asleep. I woke around 1 to find a friendly hand resting on my head. We were no longer the only ones on the boat, we had set sail and I had a guy next to me getting a bit too close for comfort. I rolled him back onto his mattress and slid further away from him.
We finally arrived around 4:30 and a tuk tuk took us on a half hour drive across town then told us to get out on a street in the middle of no where with no one around. He then drove off and left us and 3 other travellers sitting on the curb side waiting for goodness knows what. Finally the shutters of the shop door behind us opened and it was a travel agency. We waited in there for a few hours till our minibus finally arrived and we were crammed on like sardines.
The journey seemed to be going ok until the driver pulled over to help another van change its tire. And the driver gave our buses spare wheel to the other guy to put on. Don't know what would have happened if we'd brake a tire!
After a 6 hours drive we reached the border and crossed over into Malaysia waving Thailand goodbye for the second time. The bus dropped us on a main street in Penang (Malaysia) and we went hunting for a guest house.
