Day 4 - Final day in Bangkok
Poor, poor Graeme. We still couldn't find the bugs for him to try last night. We'd just gone for a really cheap dinner of Thai pak mmm and decided to then go sit in a bar for a pudding and drink. When, all of a sudden loads of Thai people started running around like maniacs - bringing in tables and chairs from restaurants (which made it impossible to get the bill!), bringing in wheeled market stores, and pulling out umbrellas. Suddenly it started thundering and then the rain started coming down - our first experience of the monsoon weather, it was crazy how cold it suddenly went. So for this reason, the bug lady had most likely wheeled off, and Graeme couldn't try his bugs….maybe another time!
Our final full day in Bangkok today. After a long lie in we awoke to our usual breakie of cheese and ham toastie, and set off with rucksacks on our backs to try and find the hotel where our tour starts. Martin conveniently thought he knew the way so we all followed Martin…we grabbed a cab and Martin asked the driver to take us to the Lumphini park where he was convinced the hotel was. It was a pleasant journey, until once again the rain started coming down, harder this time. Along the way Martin pointed out the train station for when we return back here in a months time. A while later, the taxi dropped us at this park, where we all tumbled out and rain-proofed ourselves and our rucksacks. We then followed Martin to where he thought the hotel was (in the pouring rain). And then…it seemed we were lost! Sophie asked some local Thai's for directions who were useless, and wanted money from us for them telling us. We then found a shopping centre with an information who told us the hotel was back by the station - oops! So, a quick stop in Starbucks was needed.
Luckily the tube station was nearby so we hopped on a train (how convenient Martin) and it took us straight to the station, and the hotel was next to it yey! We popped up to our rooms for a freshen up and a clothes wash before we meet our tour guide and tour mates (looks like theres 14 of us all together). Whilst freshening up I was a bit concerned as I came out of the shower to find Graeme reading (and possibly meditating slightly) 'The teaching of the Buddha'. I hope he doesn't turn into a Buddha…
