We arose and spent most of the day catching up with more people and sorting bits out online, before headed out. We headed first to 'The Craters of the Moon' park which was a small park that you could walk round which had loads of volcanic activity. There was massive craters that had steam flying out of them and you could feel the heat coming off the ground. There was also a massive mud crater too. We then headed onto the Honey Bee Centre. We had a look and a try of some of their products before realising that they were about to close, and we were too late for a honey smoothie, so we decided to pop back tomorrow. We then headed back towards the backpackers with a brief stop at a viewing point for Huka Falls, which was an impressive bright blue waterfall. We then cooked some grub then went to the movie room as they had a couple of blockbuster movie on including The Inbetweeners, plus there was free popcorn.
On the Tuesday (3-4-12) we arose got refreshed and checked out then headed to the local hot springs. After a nice 2 hour walk to the Huka Falls along the river and back we put on our bathers and went to the natural hot springs. It was great as they were free and there was a little natural waterfall which you could shower in after sitting in the hot pool with a sandy/pebbly floor. We then headed to the honey factory again, this time we managed to get an honey ice cream, honey smoothie and honey coffee, mmmmmmm. We then had a quick stop at the local Dam before driving onwards to Cambridge.
We easily found me Nan's lovely house and had a good catchup, then had some tasty lamb and leak casserole, which she had made, mmmm delicious. We then relaxed for the rest of the evening, then went to bed in a proper bed and in a proper house, lovely after over 3 weeks sleeping in the back of a car.
