So, that was one crazy weekend in Prague, but I'm still not done. I ended up staying all the way until Friday, mostly because I didn't know what else to do. I spent most of this time working on my blog and figuring out my next move. The entire time I was there no new people moved into my dorm. But I manage to keep occupied.
Monday night I caught up with Ren again who I had met in Nuremberg. We had a pretty good dinner at a place which brewed some interesting beers such as cherry, banana, herb and coffee. We tried a few of these, the coffee one in particular was really nice. We got talking to some Israeli girls who were at the table next to ours and after dinner tried to find somewhere to go, but being a Monday night there wasn't much.
On Tuesday I visited the Astronomical Clock again and this time actually waited for the hour to see the show. A bell rang, a few things turned, but wasn't really all that interesting. That night there was a Couchsurfing meetup so I went along to that. It was downstairs in poorly ventilated basement. By the end of the night I smelled like I had been dragged through an ash tray. I'm missing the smoking ban we have back home.
Wednesday and Thursday was more of not very much. Sleeping in, writing my blog etc. Thursday night was another Couchsurfing meetup, a bigger one than the last, so I went to that too.
I met some interesting people at this meetups. Quite a few who are just hitch-hiking around, even less plans than I have. At the thursday meetup a couple rocked up at like 10pm, they had just hitch-hiked to Prague and then were asking for a couch to sleep on at the meetup. They had no idea when or if they would even get to Prague and had no place to stay when they got there. As much fun as that sounds, I'm not sure I could do it. At least not by myself.
Then there were other people who seemed to pick up bits and pieces of the language everywhere they went. This made me realise I either really suck at picking up languages, or I'm simply not trying hard enough. Either way, I don't think I'll be coming home fluent in any more languages than I started with.
This weekend in Brno I'll be staying with my very first Couch Surfing host, so this is going to be interesting.
