Hiya all!
Since Facebook's text editing is so s***ty and I wanted quality travel diary to share with my love ones, I signed-up for Kilroy blogs, enjoy.
I have now 8 or 9 days behind me and I am totally amazed how much I've seen & done during these days. Way more than I've done in a year in Barcelona to be honest! I think this is due to a) waking up every morning around 7 b) not having to spend 9 hours a day at work c) not partying 3 times a week. I know it sounds slightly corny, but I think I will try to keep this kinda lifestyle when I get back! Of course apart from the work part… I will though buy lottery here and when I win I will be able to follow abc above after my return to BCN…
So in a nutshell what I've done, seen, heard, experienced on my 2nd week in New Zealand.
Monday - Tuesday / Auckland
Monday 19th - went to city center by train, did some shopping. At nite Andy and Mira asked me THE QUESTION. I said yes. I will be honoured to be a god mother to Emilia when she arrives!
Tuesday 20th was my birthday and my lovely temporary family in Auckland made me a supadupa brithday cake which we had for breakfast. I also got a beautiful handmade camera bag where I can fit my old, almost broken camera (yes, will consider buying new if this comes to it's end...), cables and few extra batteries to keep the devil going. After breakfast I was taken to a secret place which turned out to be a horse riding on the beach in Muriwai, that was awesome though I could not walk properly for 3 days after that, still have a nasty bruce on left upper leg... But did not fall down and enjoyed a lot galloping (laukata). Allan - we will definitely go together when I get back! After riding we had lovely homemade picnic next to the beack and then went to watch (pongaamaan) funny birds called Gannet (Suula in Finnish). For dinner we had Makaroonilaatikko by Lotta, Sami & Anna, it was soooo good with mushrooms and sun dried tomatoes - Suomigirls: hot tip! After dinner I read a little bit of Stephen King book with Andy & Sami, it was so exciting, can't believe...
23.-25. Wednesday - Saturday / Christchurch/Dunedin
We (I, Anna & Sami) flew to Christchurch on Wed morning and got a lovely hostel called Charlie B's. We did bicycling on Wed morning to the beach which was nice but nothing compared to Karekare! Cycling was very nice though, I got a little bit sunburned but it healed very well and quickly. I also went totally mad/crazy/nuts in the skateboar shops in CC bought e.g. a Volcom winter jacket which is very handy to carry here when it's + 30... But I love it already so do not care about the weight of it.
Christchurch is a lovely, warm little city where you can stroll around easily by foot. So we did, went to some bars, had nice dinner, went to some club full of 18 year old people, hang out at hostel garden drinking Speights (Kiwi beer).
On Friday we took our cool road trip wagon (Subary Legacy...) outside for a ride and headed to Dunedin, where we are at the moment enjoying a very hot hot day (about 35 degrees). We stopped in few places in between. Had lunch in Timaru, in a cafe with funky decoration and very nice waitresses and food. Our next stop for coffee was Oamaru, a little old town where we saw handmade limestone carving, wool factory, handcraft ladies and had spectacular berry & banana smoothies, CHOICE! Smoothies beat coffee 100 - 0 (sata nolla). I know they talk a lot about sheeps in NZ and of course I thought that there must be a lot. To give a frame: Sami who spent in NZ for a year, mostly in land on mountains and Auckland/Wellington did not see ANY sheep when here. On the driveway from Oamaru to Dunedin I think I saw something like 10 000 sheeps, it was just crazy. Sometimes a lil bit sad becuse the poor fatty b******s had so little space to move and eat... But I can confirm: there are s*** loads of sheeps around here, mate. Last stop before Dunedin was in Moeraki where they have these funny boulder stones in the sea. They were pretty cool, but I personally preferred the turtle looking stones next to them...
Today, Saturday, we found so cool beach, ALLANS BEACH. It was just lovely, sea lions hanging out there, not too big waves (went to the water first time now), not many people and lovely gorgeous view. You have to climb a fence to get there and cross a sheep grazing ground (laidun). You can't really see what the beach is like before you get on top of the grazing ground but once there, you just feel like happiest person on earth. So beautiful, peaceful, crystal clear water, no people and wild animals you've ever seen before in your life. I say this is cool if anything is.
We'll take off tomorrow morning to Te Anau, more news from there. I noticed I enjoy a lot writing this s***, sorry about the lenghty of it. If bored after 2 mins, hot tiop for next blog entry: scroll directly to the summary of the week!

"Choice" - said whenever something is cool
