G'day mates!!!! Right, I have about 20 mins before my cousin picks me up to go to Dreamworld for the day, so I am gonna do a brain dump with what the last week has looked like......!!!
So, I am in sunny Queensland now, the Sunshine State....or not as it has been for most of this week!!! There has been Cyclone Hamish battering the shores off Queensland, thankfully not inland, but it has caused the most bizarre weather here......but it has cleared over the weekend, to reveal the most gorgeous blue skies.....They have had such a tough time recently in Oz what with the floods and the bush fires, now the Cyclone, and last week their worst ever environmental disaster hit as a tanker got hit in the cyclone and lost 31 barrels of oil into the sea....we saw the damage on a beach on the Sunshine Coast....the effects of this will be devastating to their beaches and wildlife......
So, I arrived here last Monday night, easy peasy flight and then Nick and Barbs picked me up...... my god, I have then been in a complete whirlwind eversince!!! Barbs definitely missed her vocation!!!! She should have been a tour guide!!!
Brisbane is different to Sydney, it is smaller with a more chilled vibe....so we spent the first day checking the views of the city from Mount Cootha, checking the gardens at Roma Street and the Botanicl gardens....simply stunning......Barbs then took me out to Wellington Point where we watched the kite surfers, man that looks like fun, when Anj does her skydive I reckon I might give that a go......we then drove down the coast through Wynham, Manley & Moreton Bay.....
Wednesday was Tamborine Mountain, we did a walk in a rain forest (WOW), and saw Cedar Creek Falls which is an amazing waterfall...we then did a skywalk over the rainforest, again, amazing experience.....if a little scary, the skywalk moved....ALOT!!!!!
Thursday, I met Barbs in Brisbane at lunchtime after taking a look round their Queen Street Mall.....BIG!!!! Loadsa cool shops, but obviously as a poor backpacker, no money spent!!!! So we then went to South Bank....where there is a man made beach in the middle of the city, seriously you have to see it to believe it!!!! I have loadsa pics, but it was a choice between typing or uploading this morning!!! We then took a City Cat (boat!!), up the Brisbane River and checked out the views, the big gorgeous houses and apartments and the CBD skyscrapers......got eaten alive, I am definitely "juicy" again in Brisbane.....reckon I have about 20 bites on my legs again!!! Attractive!!!
Friday, we went off up the Sunshine Coast to Noosa.....kind of Marbella'ish...very posh, full of ladies what lunch, and simply gorgeous....the beach was lovely and we had a little paddle and Barbs got crabs....well she picked one up anyway!!!!! We also went to Mary Cairncross Park which was a reserve where we took another walk and saw little wallabies hopping around, we then went to Gardners Falls which was another stunning waterfall.....they are so lucky here with the diversity of the landscape....telling you like this just doesn't do it justice......Friday night, Angela and Mario took me for my first ever taste of Sushi.....YUMMY!!!! Will definitely be feeding myself on that again!!! :-) Thanks guys :-)
Saturday, we headed down the Goid Coast (much to Nick's disgust....it really is like living with Dad again!!! They are soooo alike!!!)....well, the Gold Coast...words really cannot describe, the beaches here are breathtaking......a complete vibe as they are surferville and I loved it......the pics will speak for themselves.....but I could have stayed here forever....loved it...came home and James cooked us dinner which was yum!!!
Yesterday, we went out Koala hunting....well looking for wild ones anyway, to no avail!!!! so we came home and had a barbie....which was yum again!!! Then off to the pics with Angela and Mario to see Notorious, cool film.....
The home cooked food has been outstanding at the Stuart Hotel, a whole queen sized bed to myself, clean soft towels and being able to leave my wash stuff in the shower has been a real treat!!!! As well as my own personal tour guide, thanks Barbs :-)
So, I am off to hopefully hold a koala today, and then Anj is coming tonight ready for our next stage to New Zealand tomorrow.....ccan't wait!!! And the best news this week, Kaz is coming to join us in Thailand - YAY!!!! Can't wait.....xx
Things have been a bit pants at home this week, some family stuff and loads of job probs, so loadsa love to all xxxx
Not sure what the internet access will be like for the next 2 weeks as we are off on the Magic Bus, so will update as soon as poss.....in the meantime, keep smiling....xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
