Hey darls!! Here we are in Beograd, the capital of Serbia! Currently, we are sitting in a group of travellers from different countries- typing down this blog, and getting quite high on shisha ( apart from Philla, alp poof!)
First, let me backtrack.....
After an overnight train to here from Zagreb, this could be described as unforgettable experience. The train condition was terrible!!! There are puddles of sick everywhere, toilets are filled with s***s that somehow couldn't be flushed away- we assured that the s***s are not our...., loads of drunks around swilling around beers filling the carriage with stinks of alchols, and we have to sleep cramped with other people on chairs (we opted not to get sleepers to save money, in a true backpackers' style!) We were tempted to join other people drinking and exchange stories style, but with backpacks with us, a sensible conscience among us (yes, there is a sensible soul somewhere in us!) says noooooooo, time to sleeeeeppp!
So we bustled into a cabin with a cute couple, who are travelling to egypt. To our pleased suprise, the chairs are comfortable, expect for poor laura, who suddenly was overcomed with paranoia. Being her first time sleeping in a train, quite rightly, she was worried that our backpacks would be stolen under our noses whilst we are sleeping so she became our guard dog! She screamed and waves at anyone who come within 5 metres from our cabin. Any one wants a guard dog, you know where to look!
The sleep was quite comfortable, maybe not for other passengers who have been faced the wrath of Laura, expect couple of times, we have been woken up for the passport checks- which are quite annoyed.
At the six in the morning, we finally arrived in the city. We try to find our accommadation, which, to our dismay, was a bloody long, i mean, not aliya's far style, philippa's far style! which meant long long way! not what the website would describe as short distance from train station, only five minutes... more like one hour, dear! The search was made worse by the walk mainly were uphill! After many hours, and many directions asked, we finally found our accommodation. The hotel owner was really sweet with his turquiose eyes (Philla's favourite colour- hint hint) and thick bushy funny shape eyebrow. He was intially nicknamed ' funny shaped eyebrow man'.
We was shown our dorms, and to Laura's shock, we were to share with men. To our sadness, they are not good looking men. If you are those men and reading this, you all are really handsome! One have funny patches on his back but quite with good body. Hmmm.....
We then have explore the city. We found the city of two exterme. Many people are really well dressed and groomed, with beautiful builings. On other side, there are loads homeless with shacks made out of cardboards and tyres. We saw a homeless with her saggy breasts peeking out of her dirty blouse holding a malnourised baby. This was an interesting constrast- and made us to realise how lucky we were and there are things that we need to get done in this world- Sorry to get political and socialist on you.
Whilst we passed a piercing shop, in a fit of spontaneous went inside and got our - Erika, Aliya and Philla - ears pierced, yep, I meant pierced. We got our middle ear pierced on one side. Here the piercing are done different than in England. In England, they would sit you down and blah blah all stuffs baout piercing and blah, but here, they just walked up to you and bam! your ear was pierced! It all was over in five minutes, no, more like 30 seconds! Wicked!! ( Mummies, don't worry, it was all safe and sterlile and they have a safety and health and government registered cerfitable. No infections or deaths so far!) Check out the picture!
Like true females we are (Aliya quote here) we then hit the shoopppsss!!!!
After we went to posh restraurant- travellers out there, before you disapprove, the dishes are really cheap! Cheaper than basic dishes in London! Good reason to eat in luxury! Food are really beautiful, proper Serbian style! With quite handsome waiters in Serbian costumes ( well, apparently according to Erika and Aliya)
Back to hostel, we hooked up with some travellers who are staying at the hostel, and so here we are now, smoking shisha with melon and peach favour!!!
