Hey guys! :) Hope y'all r loving our blog entries so far :D As Rika explained we left Salzburg at 3am, totally shattered and so, on the train journey to Prague, we all zonked out completely! It was such a strange journey, cos we kept getting woken up for tickets/passports, so we were continiously in and our of dreamland and reality!! Eventually we did arrive in Prague, and straightaway we were a bit confused where our hostel was, thankfully for Camilla, who is amazingly talented at map directions, led us to our hostel.
When we arrived we were straightaway astounded, the hostel was based on a huge old school style hall, which had EIGHTY beds, in one massive halls, I kid you not friends, it was fabalous, and looked so quirky! We got dressed, freshened up, dumped our bags off and went to explore Prague! :D
We started by going up a building which resembled an old church and had many many many steps leading to the top where we saw an overview of Prague, which was quite stunning, we then went into a church where we saw a Prague priest preaching, we stayed for 2 minutes, and then walked around more. At some point, I (ali) felt a bit shaky - probably due to lack of food and tiredness, so dear Camilla and Riki, dragged me into a cafe and foreced me to eat a pancake, which actually DID do me the world of good!
Feeling much better, we headed out to see more sights, and we saw the John Lennon wall, which was SO cool, with all the graffiti and funky images and colours! Took loadsa photos, which we WILL update on here sooooooon... then we walked across the stunning St Charles Bridge, stopping to look at the religious yet slightly gothic statues on the way and taking in the views of the city. We then went down to the quay, where we impulsively, decided to hire a rowboat for an hour to row across the river in Prague, *laughs* Our inital decision was to get a pedal boat, but us girls with our ambitions decided to go for the somewhat more challenging rowboat. :D
So off we went rowing, Camilla did a superb job, showing she clearly has her father's skills at rowing, Erika, suprisingly did fabalous, impressing us with her skills at turning the boat around, I, (ali) however, yes I confess, was utterly s***e!!! It took me ages to get us underneath the bridge, in which I nearly crashed into a family of ducks (dont worry, none of them were hit) and nearly could have crashed into some other boats sailing quite closely by! Nevertheless it was brilliant fun, although the girls were much relieved when I succumbed and let them take over the role of the rowers :D We had a brilliant time, and kept singing 'Row row row your boat' and Erika loved the song, singing it whilst we were rowing on the river! :D
After this, we walked thru Prague in the night, and us with our love for reading, stopped at an old bookstore, to look at some books, before finally heading to a cafe indulging in some liquid refereshement before walking back to our hostel.
The next morning we woke up and got a bit of a surprise to find men surrounding us as they were sleeping in the same block as us, one great thing about travelling, is you NEVER know who you're gonna wake up next to!!!! We got changed, and intitally set out to see the Church of Bones, however, when we reached the train station, we were told it was quite far, so we then decided it may be best to cover more things in Prague, and save the Church of Bones for a future trip (gives us an excuse to go back to dear Prague again!!) :D
We headed to the Franz Kafka Museum, which was psychologically fascinating. Kafka was a famous writer who lived in Prague and Camilla filled us in on her knowledge of him, so we had an idea of who he was. The Museum had films, photographs and loads of interesting information about Kafka, leading us to have tons of interesting discussion on the psyche, literature and all that afterwards :) We then headed to the castle grounds, yet on the way we stopped to pose for photographs wit the police men and the guards :D Such fun!!! We went thru the castle gardens, and walked up many steps, before we finally reaced the main cathedral/castle, it was so beautifully gothic, with a slightly fairytale, mystical element to it, we had a lovely time sitting by there and taking in the beautiful imagery :)
Afterwards, we went to look for food and found this gorgeous resturant up upon the terrace, where we had a PROPER meal, (at last) which was SOOOO lovely :) and then headed back to our accomodation to get changed, to head our for a night out in proper Prague drinking style! And we did not disappoint! We went to the first bar, fully intending to do a bar crawl, but due to the comfort, and the drinks, we ended up staying there all night! We had the traditional shot of Abstinthe, TWICE, was SO SO SO disgusting, worse than the English kind! Ew! But we crried on drinking and made lots of friends with the Prague locals, specifically one fella, who we kept laughing and laughing with for no particualr reading and talked about swimming across to Poland the next day, the strange man believed us!!!!! And kept looking at our muscles, impressed at how strong we were to swim to Poland!! LOL!! We ended up sligtly pissed, and playng strange games outside, making pretend phone calls, and just having absolutely nonsenical fun! :) Finally we made our way back and Ali promptly fell asleep (wayyy...:D) whilst Camilla and Erika had a fabalous time taking lots of photos and posing strange pictures!! :)
The next day we woke up with a slight hangover, reaching for food and water to cure ourselves!! :) We then checked our blog, thank you Philla for updating them and for the photos, cant wait to c u soon in Amsterdam chicks :D And then we got the train to Krackov, Poland :) where Camilla will fill you in on our adventures! Toodles
