Buenas noches! :D
I'm writing today after un dia "full" of activity in My Shepard's first day of school for the year 2011-2012. I've recently become obsessed wtih saying the word full (as you may have noted it's totally in my blog's title..jajajaja) because evvERYone here in Ecuador says it! It's so funny; in the Latin American countries that I've been in there always seem to be words in English that get unoficially adopted into the Spanish dialect. So here in Ecuador everyone says "full" and I can't help but laugh when Marcos says things like "deseo full descanso" (I'm looking forward to a good rest)..haha! Ahh...one of the many things to love about Ecuador :)
Although I'm totally exhausted from my first early day since lord knows when, it was a great day of being surrounded by ninos preciosos ecuatorianos and their parents! I was praying so hard before I left that I wouldn't die on the spot of nerves. As many of you already know, I'm generally not a nervous person, but in REALLY new things I can get super (ah! Another common Ecuadorian thing to say! Super!) anxious and sometimes struggle with self-doubt. But thankfully everything went great! The parents were soo unbelievably excited to have someone teaching English to their kids that they approached me thanked me personally :)
But it was tiring. I came home after a full day and nearly collapsed onto my bed thinking "how am I going to do this all week?" Hahaha...I've become SO unbelievably lazy for the past months in the mornings that I predict a real harsh adjustment period comin' my way. I even woke up STILL tired! Can you believe that? Oh nelly, this will be interesting waking up at 6 every morning to get ready and go...eee! But it will totally be worth it--I'm so looking forward to this experience!
Mmm...but now that I just got done eating dinner, I'm still thinking about food! I've been going nuts trying all sorts of Ecuadorian cuisine as of late and tried this huge Colombian sausage thing today that came served on a foot-long stick...hahaha. I seriously should have taken a pic of it..chuta! And I've especially been trying all these wonderful combinations in my house becuase my Ecuadorian parents have decided to become experimental vegetarians in my honor! Awww...so cute, no? :) Tonight I had this delic combination of brown rice, quinoa (which is an amazing complete protein and super popular in S.A.) veggies and mashed up green platano (banana). It sounds a bit strange but it was tassttyy!
Bueno, I'll leave you all on that good note and will hope that you're all in good hands and having exciting adventures of your own :)
Un beso!
