When some people think of travel they think of long lines at the airports, layovers, eating alone, crazy foods that are too scary to touch...and yes although all of those are true, I think of all the great destinations, meeting locals, experiencing great food that I most likely won't ever get to try again, all the cool friends I meet from all over the world, and the fact that I am learning something new everyday. For me, the pros far outweigh the cons.
I have made Sabah my home for the past 6 months and I packed up and left today. Leaving something that is home is always bittersweet. I am sad to leave my friends, my kids that I taught English to, and all the great diving, but will never forget how each and everyday molded me into a better person.
I will be living out of my suitcase for the next month...traveling to and from Kuala Lumpur, Australia, Hawaii and finally home. I think by the time I get home from Malaysia I will have been in 4 time zones, 10 airplanes and had lots and lots of culture shock, exhaustion but a fair share of memories!!
My program is now over and my family is meeting me in Australia to have a vacation...and a much needed one I must say. I have enjoyed my time in Malaysia and am now ready for some hot showers, potatoes, salads and a big hug from my family!! xoxoxo
