Hi everyone, well we are finally here, we thought we would set up this blog, copying Hollsie and Steve. We arrived following a very long flight with royal bruni with 2 stops one in dubai and one in bruni. Both not much fun. Still think Singapore airport the best. Anyway we got into Sydney on 5th Oct (Friday) and checked into our hotel, it was fantastic, really beautiful rooms and huge bathroom with art deco style furnishings. We booked it through asia rooms on the internet. Hotel called Swissotel and was positioned in the centre of the cbd which made getting around really easy. Did the usual in Sydney went down to harbour and walked around circular quay. On the Sunday took our flight with virgin blue up to coffs, only short journey took about 40mins. Landed in coffs and picked up hire car from euro car. We thought we would drive into coffs and get some lunch so went down to resturant on jetty. Very nice food but swarmed by flies yuk!! We then made our way to Jean and Mikes and started to relax. The next few days werea whirl wind of getting driving liscences and sorting out documents needed. We found somewhere to rent for 6mths in a place called Woolgoolga. Its a lovely seaside town with palm trees and beautiful rolling hills. Lots of bananas grown here and very lush and green. Where we live is surrounded by wildlife. The gardens are about 5 acres with half of that uncleared trees and woodland. Lots of birds Lorikeets and parrots, gallahs and kookaburras. They wake us each morning waiting to be feed. There is an amazing bird called a whip bird which makes a sound like a cracking whip. The kangarooes come to the garden as well but mostly early morning. In the day they just lounge around finding shade and sleeping. We have had a few big spiders in the house and a redback (which is scarey) but I think they have mostly left the buuilding now following our spraying weekend which included trip to Bunnings (like B&Q) the purchase of several large containers of toxic spray and Brenty spraying all areas in and out of house. I dont even like English spidders let alone the ones here (sorry to all spider lovers)
We have bought two cars both fords, Brent always said he would never buy a ford and now we have two. Mine is a ford sedan and Brents work truck and our 4x4 weekend truck is a ford courior. We bought the truck from a place high up a mountain called Dorrigo, its a beautiful little town, very scenic.
Brent did think he had some work last week but turned out the guy was very unreliable and would sometimes call brent sometimes not so he has decided to try somewhere else. Phoned re. a job in paper just waiting for reply. I cant start until my registration is sorted out so basically we having time off. There is lots to do however, our furnniture arrived last week and the unpacking was very xciting, it was great to have something to sit on and all our familiar stuff around us. We have still got to put up the water bed!!
Anyway the point of this journal is to keep in touch with you all, so we hope everyone is happy and well and we will bore you all with our tales and post lots of pictures.
Brenty and Gilly xx
