Adventure this morning finding our way around Hamilton on our way to an optician, to try and get David's specs mended. Parked on the side of the road after carefully following directions given by lady at the campsite. With lots of luck found spec savers who fixed it in a jiffy. No time to shop (sadly) off we went to the Hamilton gardens. Stunning!! Can you spot Romeo?

Leaving the caves heading for Hamilton, we turned right. What a mistaka to maka! Ended up on the east coast at Marokopa. Complete dead end. By this time we were tired, hot and running out of diesel. Got out the maps and headed back through the hills which was very beautiful . Arrived at the caves for the three pm tour lasted about an hour, very cool underground . Quite magical to see the starry effect created by the glow worms feeding in the cave. Guide was a descendant of the Maori chief Tane Tinorau who discovered the cave in 1887.

Lunch at Te Kuiti where the whole town was closed due to a very important Moari funeral. This town is the shearing capital of the world.

On our way to Waitomo today on the way drove thro Whakamuru Forest and stopped to walk around the lake. Deserted except for the wildlife beautiful spot like the Wye Valley .
