Rained most of the night, woke to a chilly fresh morning. Packed up and took the coastal road from St kitts along the Otago Penisula to Larnach Castle. A true Scottish feel to this area, well restored and well laid out took a few hours exploring the castle and gardens. Good venue for a wedding !!

The Catlins is a fishing and wildlife reserve, lots of little sheds border the rivers a real get away from it all retreat ! Moving along the coast around 5pm we stopped at Florence Hill Lookout. What a lovely beach. Then it began to rain torrential thunder and lightening . We reached Invercargill around 7.30, pleased to park up for the night. PS still raining see photo .

After lunch took coastal south land scenic route. Thro the Catlins, native bush land bordered by the Antartic. Visited the Purakaunui Falls , a short walk from the gravel road car park thro a wooded forest area. See photo.

Started out around 9 am along the SH 1 at Oamaru stopped to look around the town, very pretty. Visited the old quarter near the docks and walked around the harbour to the Blue Penquin Colony. We saw the nesting boxes . Dave took a lovely photo of one hiding under the walkway, special thanks to the guide for her help. Around the corner we saw a basking seal . On then to the Moeraki Boulders another scenic beach area. Turned off main highway to visit Aramoana Conse...

Arrive Timaru for our third camp site, this one is clean and very well laid out. We walk up thro the park, and have lunch looking out over Caroline Bay , nice meal then walk around the local shops . Not like our high streets, so big chain shops. Do manage to find some running shoes for Dave. He gets back to camp site and goes for a run. I do the washing !!! James look for the duck in this photo .
