Sucre is a great city!
Finally we came to a city that looks like one. Lots of people, some tourists, beautiful buildings, proper roads… what more can you ask for?
Although Sucre (named after general Sucre) is the official capital of Bolivia, La Paz is much more influential, and is bigger as well.
This is my favorite place in Bolivia so far. We came to an awesome Hostel called ¨La Dolce Vita¨. It´s beautiful from the inside as well as the outside. The rooms are big, the shower is awesome, everything is clean, the kitchen looks great and there´s fun atmosphere.
For our first evening there Johanna decided she wants to make Shepherd's pie, we didn´t argue with that… So we bought some ingredients at the local market and the supermarket and had a wonderful cooked dinner.
Sucre has Good restaurants, interesting museums, chocolate factory (which is not the best but produces some fine chocolate), good weather and fun bars and clubs.
We spent 2 lazy days around here, getting a massage (I also got a haircut while the girls had pedicure). Some more guys from Villa Tunari joined us – Sam from Australia, Phil and Clair from England. Now we´re 6, the perfect number for a trip to the Sallare de Uyuni (the salt flats).
We had a great dinner over at the Mirador Café. Apparently every city in south America has its own ¨Mirador¨- a hill nearby where you can enjoy the view over the city. The café there was awesome, we saw a lovely sunset and had great pastas accompanied with the same ¨ok¨ red wine.
After that – Sam and I joined 2 swedish girls, a german guy and a british guy who went to a bar called Floren. Nice place, ok music, regular alcohol. As you can see – we had a lot of fun there :D. After the bar we went to a club that was half empty, so we might have to come back tonight (Friday night).
Today the 6 of us had a picnic out in the big Park. We bought some stuff off the market – Sandwiches with Chorizos and Fruits and just lied on the grass having a lovely lunch.
In the evening we´re going out again (all of us this time), and tomorrow at 8:30a.m. our bus leaves to Uyuni, where we will book our 3 days tour to the Salt flats. Guess how long the bus ride to Uyuni takes? That´s right… 10 hours.
Hope I can update from Uyuni or the Sallar but I doubt it… so Until next time – Adios amigos!
