Sihanoukville to Siem Reap Night Bus Journey. This is a special edition of our blog, written by Liam.

We wondered whether to wait and include this particular journey in a later blog, and then thought better of it.

It all started so well; we were on the top deck of a night sleeper bus and right at the front where there appeared to be a little bit more room. Lovely.
This optimism lasted all of two minutes after the bus broke down trying to pull away on top of a hill; everyone onboard looking at each other with worried expressions, thinking *is this bus fit for purpose?!*

Ten minutes later we hadn't moved, so the bus staff decided, to our horror, to push start the bus down the hill. The driver/pushers at the back had little or no control, swaying the bus down the wrong side of the road, missing another coach and a motorists by a matter of inches. This is where having front row seats isn't so lucky. With a perfect and direct view of our seemingly certain death, Alix literally was yelling WE ARE GOING TO DIE!!

Clearly we didn't ... and an hour (and long intervals of no Airconditioning) later, Alix nudged me and whispered 'Can you smell that?'
Some one on the top deck of our bus had had an accident, YES YOU GUESSED RIGHT, a fully grown adult just a few seats back from us, with nine hours to go before we reached our destination, had s***
THEMSELVES. The stench was unbearable on an already hot, sweaty and odour ridden bus. We were truly getting our $12's worth.

Despite hours of whaling Cambodian music to prevent us from sleeping , the rest of the journey was relatively incident free. We are now sitting in the hostel reception area waiting for our room to be prepared.

Although such experience is now to be expected in Asia, we thought we would share this short one with you regardless.
