Waking up at 3am feeling ill wasn't the best preparation for the days events. After passing on what would have been the best breakfast so far on the trip - pancakes, we walked to the zip line office where they couldn't get the equipment on us quick enough and we rushed to the first zip line point.
There were 5 zip lines in total ranging from 300-500m in length crossing the Urubamba river. I felt even worse at this point after seeing the height! But when I was actually going across I forgot about how awful I was feeling just had to sit down in between each go.
When I thought the zip lining was over and we had completed the 5th line, the scariest part was still to come. We had to cross the verge in a cable bridge. This consisted of 2 parallel zip wires held together by small planks of wood. Motivating Liz because she is scared if heights we both made it across safely.
We had a 1.5hr walk until lunch, where I was looking forward to a rest! I felt too ill to eat but we saw the lovely American family from the hostel who gave me a lime and said a shot of the juice would help to settle my stomach.
After the lunch stop it felt like we were walking forever. In fact it was 2.5hrs until we reached Aguas Callientes - known to the guides as the Swiss village because of its extortionate tourist prices.
This is when I should have gone straight I bed because I didn't manage to stomach any dinner and wasn't looking forward to the 4am start tomorrow.
