The hotel called the room to invite us to a complimentary breakfast but we knew there had to be a hitch! We were not informed that it involved a 90-minute presentation on the Hilton plans to expand over the next 5 years. We made the decision to skip the breakfast and pick up something from the cafe instead.
Mary and I had planned to go to the Encore Beach Club pool party whilst Bobbi decided to stay at the hotel pool. The pool party was an experience, we arrived in plenty of time, Mary had put us on the guest list, we skipped the queue and received two free glasses of champagne each. All of the seats were reserved inside so we found a good spot on the pool edge and enjoyed people watching as the pool party filled up.
If you were not on the guest list it cost $150 to enter! We stayed a couple of hours, until there was not space to move inside and headed to Tacos el Gordo for a takeaway taco. Mary and I then headed to the Hilton pool to join Bobbi who was being wined and dined.
That evening we headed to the Stratosphere (the tallest freestanding observation tower in the United States standing at 1,149ft) for cocktails at sunset and sneaked up to the viewing platform. If you arrive before 6.30 all cocktails are 241.
For dinner we found the secret pizza place in the cosmopolitan hotel, it was a good pizza and was worth the long wait. The three of us ended up walking the entire length of the strip, we saw MGM, Escalabur, New York - New York hotels lit up before calling it a night before our bus pass ran out.
