Hello,Once again I am sorry that I have left it so long since I let you all know what I have been up to. It’s been a crazy few months since I last updated the web page.I carried on working at the hostel, it changed hands and turned from being the super great V backpackers to god awful Chilli Blue Backpackers. It was definitely an end of a brilliant hostel and no longer felt like home. It was then that we thought it was time for a change. Ellen headed off to Brisbane to stay with a friend and work for a while and I started to plan my road trip. I worked enough to get enough, I thought, to last me for a while and then off we went. There was Janna (a gorgeous German girl that had been staying at the V Hostel for 2 months), Jon (a very gorgeous boy from the Isle of Man) and myself (I don’t think I need any introduction, and if I do - you need help!) all heading off into the unseen world of Australia. The 3 of us headed off in Jon's nice new 4wd jeep, headed up to Cairns. We stopped at Nundle - where Jon had spent his time here 5 years ago working at a sheep station, then to Coffs Harbour. Camped there for the night, then headed up to Byron Bay and Surfers Paradise. The night we were there was 'schoolies weekend' which basically means there were loads of drunken kids walking the streets and having a rave on the beach - we tried to join in but Jon and myself felt very old - as we are, however the young chicken Janna loved it, her being only 19! From here we attempted to get to Brisbane to pick Elles Belles up, however there was a small problem with the car and had to get it towed all the way there. It is an experience I will never forget - the cabin did not have enough room for all of us, so Jon and me had to sit in the back of Jon’s car, on the top of the flat bed truck for the 2 hour journey. It was very different and we arrived at Elles pad in style! There was a small delay to the trip whilst Jon got the car fixed, the radiator had a small hole in - but in temperatures like we have here it was overheating in 5 mins!!!! Once the car was fixed, and a few nights out where had, we were off again. We went to the Lone Pine Koala Park and got to cuddle a Koala bear - they are so cute and their fur is so thick - no wonder they don’t move much they must melt in this heat. The day after that we went to the famous Australia Zoo and saw all Steve Irwin’s crocs. That night we stayed in Noosa and watched a fabulous thunder storm - were I got my photo from, so going to take up Photography when I get home, I will be great! From Noosa we headed to Hevery Bay - the port were you go across to Fraser Island, which we would have done if we had all the time in the world and the money but we didn’t so carried heading up to Cairns. Rockhampton was the next port of call, home of the best beef in Australia, were Jon treated me to a cabin, because he is such a cute gorgeous boy - with a real bed - I am far to old to be sleeping on the ground in a tent for too m any nights, my hips just give up!!!!! Woke feeling refreshed and 20 years younger and drove to Seaforth. Seaforth is the smallest town I think I have ever seen, you can walk around it in 2 mins! Spent the night here eating chicken curry and playing sherards, with a very drunken Ozzy bloke. The next mooring ate breakfast with wild Lorikeets and the drunken ozzy should us his catch of the morning -huge mud crabs! The it was Townsville - where everything closes early on a Sunday to have a huge steak for tea. Spent a few days on an island called Magnetic Island, which was very nice, went fishing here with Jon and fell down the Coral rocks!!! All of us burnt very badly whilst we were here – even me which is strange – this hot Australian sun, it’s a b*****!!! We arrived in Cairns 3 and 1/2 weeks after setting off from Sydney. In Cairns we had 1 very drunken night, some nights spent fishing - where I caught a crab and 2 fish, Janna caught a crab and Jon caught..... erm ........ oh the smallest fish in the world! The photo of me and my fish are on the web page so have a look - we did throw him back cos I didn’t want to eat him. Cairns is one place on the east coast that you go diving - so thanks to Namink for my Christmas present I went on 2 dives out on the reef with Jon. Although it was the Great Barrier Reef it was not all that impressive, don’t get me wrong it was amazing - but I think that the sites are getting over used and therefore damaged a lot and the reef is really starting to suffer! I had the best day’s diving and even saw Nemo and a turtle! I loved it.From here Janna headed off on her own for a while, Ellen went to work in a restaurant and Jon and myself started to make our way back down the coast to Brisbane. We spent a few days driving inland, thinking we were going to get stranded with no fuel, but we were ok, went digging for Sapphires, watched turtles come inland to lay their eggs at Bundaberg and sat watching the Milky Way. We had to help move the turtle eggs as the mother was far to lazy and made her nest to low on the beach and all the ickle turtles would have drowned in the tide if we had not had carried them up the beach. We helped moved 457 baby turtles to their new home!!! They should hatch by the end of Jan - maybe even on my birthday - which would be nice!!!! hehehehe (27th Jan for all those how had forgotten!)I am now in Brisbane, staying at one of Ellen’s friend’s family home for Christmas. We are sharing a double bed in a caravan that is parked in their front garden, so I think it will be the strangest Christmas I have ever had!!!! I am planning to travel to Sydney on the 28th Dec to watch the Fireworks over the Sydney Harbour Bridge for New Year.Well that brings you all up to date - I hope that you all have a wonderful Christmas and a super New Year. I am going to be missing you all so much and it feels really strange being here - miles away from home, family and friends in the sunny 35 degrees, its just not Christmas!!! I will be thinking of you all and wish you all the best.I hope to hear from you all soonLots of love always and foreverGeorge xxxx
I just want to say a huge "thank you" to Jon for putting up with me in his car for the last month, I have no idea how he did it! Love you xxxx
