After a long journey to Marseille we made it to our hostel and headed to bed. We enjoyed a lie in before visiting the port, stopping in a courtyard area full of restaurants and cafes for breakfast/lunch. It was a sunny day so we sat outside, although it was very very windy. We then wandered around the town, visiting a few shops and sitting in the harbour area in the sun. As the hostel had a kitchen we decided to save some money and make our own dinner and relax in the common area for the evening.
The next day the wind was even stronger so our plan to visit the beach nearby was scrapped and we made our way to the Notre Dame de la Garde. It was quite a long walk through the old town, mainly up hill, which in the wind was quite hard work! We eventually reached the top and it was definitely worth the trek to see the great view over Marseille. After we'd spent some time looking around there we headed back down to grab some lunch and get out of the wind! Next we intended to go to the Jardin de Pharo just to relax in the sun as we were both quite tired. Once we got there however the security man sent us away. We tried to find another park, with no luck so instead headed to a little cafe to have a drink outside. We made our dinner again that evening, chatted to some other travellers and had an early night.
Having already sorted our train tickets to Barcelona we had to wait until about 3.30pm to set off from the hostel. So we just chilled in the morning and made a big lunch before leaving. Already heading to our last destination!!
5 days to go!
