Today was the second excursion. We started out by hopping on the cable-cars down the cliff face of the island before getting a boat to the volcano of Santorini and trekking to the top. Amazing views.
After that we went to the hot mud springs. We pulled up in the boat to a corner of the sea surrounded by volcanic stuff and jumped in. It was freezing but as you got closer to the mud springs there were pockets of warm water in the sea which got hotter and more frequent the closer you got. Such a weird experience. We swam all the way to the mud part and smeared what looked like diarrhoea all over ourselves. It smelt like it too.
Then came the donkeys. We had to ride a crazy bloody donkey back up the steps of the cliff face that we had got the cable-cars down that morning. The donkeys kept stopping and then started going back down the steps and slipping as they did so. It was quite scary and I didn't like it at all! So, I jumped off the donkey. Mistake.
I then had to climb the 588 steps back up in the baking heat.
Had lunch, nap and shower before getting the mini-bus to Oia, where the famous dome is in all the pictures of Santorini and watched the sun set over the bay. It was stunning.
Had a walk around the town and then went for tea at a really nice restaurant. It was a cool evening and the waiters brought out fleece blankets for the girls that hadn't brought jackets.
We then headed back to the club from the night before (this is prearranged as part of the tour but we randomly ended up in there the night before). The guy that had been on the bar was stood in the doorway and recognised us all. He said that the 5 of us left at the end had gone through 2 and a half bottles of Jägermeister! That equates to a lot of Jägerbombs :-/
It was a good but relatively mild night out in comparison.
