helloooooo!
sorry i've been neglecting you, been far too busy trapsing through mozzie and leach invested jungle! i can tell your all really jealous!!! ok so a quick recap in order!
ventured off to taman negara last week to find some lovely birdies! stayed in a great hut with views over the river and a huge gap above the door for all the mozzies to get in through, very convenient for them! but i have most definetly mastered the art of creating wall art out of them, it must be the artist in me!! adopted two cats while i was there too, no surprize there really i seem to do it everywhere i go! guess there good at spotting a soft touch!
anyway had a great time no ridiculous long overnight treks but it was so hot a couple of hours and you were done for, yes mum i had plenty of water (not sure which one i'm refering to here my actual mum or the many i have been adopted by!! :o) but to you all i drank lots!
and for those of you that were with me last time i was in taman negara or those that have heard about my monkey experience while there last year i did actually to go back to the hide that i had my ... run in with the lovely dears last time which i was impressed by, cant say i was that relaxed mind! sorry those of you that have no idea what i'm rambling on about but lets face it i ramble rubbish most of the time anyway! :o)
if you check out my pics you'll spot one of a game of chess, well my room had one other benefit it was just behind "chess corner" and yes tom i was challenged to a game by the locals and well lets just say i amused them! i was reasonably impressed i lasted the 10 minutes i did they spent at least 8 hours every day out there! luckily no wagers had been set!!
so after a fleeting visit back to KL mainly to get my washing done and have a hot shower! i ventured off to bukit fraser (fraser's hill) about 2 or 3 hours away from KL with a canadian called rob in tow! a canadian i later discovered that snored, ate more than the average malay family and hated silence, oh a joy to travel with!
anyway the place is amazing and to all my birdy friends you have to get yourselves there i saw 27 new species in 3 days! AND we did one walk with a local guide who turned out to be a contributor in one of the bird books we used to use in benting lintang when we were surveying! (the white plate book for all those in the know) he was great and head of the asian bird society and about a hundred other organisations! and next time apparently i have to stay with him and his family and stay at least a week, no arguements here! i have his email if anyone fancies a visit! (gwen, sue you'd love this place!)
so thats all i've been up to really, keep doing the usual trick of turning up places and bumping into the same people you left a week ago which is getting really funny, off to pulau pangkor tommorrow so we'll see who shows up (please dont let it be the canadian!) after so long trapsing through wet jungle the beach is sounding very attractive at the mo! sorry for all of you sat at a desk! honest this backpacking lark is had work!! really it is! :o)
anyway i'll stop depressing you and sod off (i'm sure a few of you have already expressed that i should by now anyway) oh but if anyone has any ideas where my parents have disappeared to can you let me know, its meant to be me off gallavanting guys, before i send out search and rescue switch a computer on will you!! :o) there i am officially turning into my mother! :o) xx
