Gemma's Travels
hi all,
well i left taupo and got on a new bus heading to river valley, there was very few people on the new bus, only 3 guys and 2 other girls - not including the driver, smiley. on the way to river valley everyone was fairly quiet and i was a bit gutted as the last bus i was on was so great and everyone got on well, we were meant to be doin a 2hr hike around mount doom after leaving taupo (lord of the rings fans alert) but obviously with my ankle i couldnt do that, so i walked partway and then had to turn around and walk back on my own, it worked out well as i bumped into some girls i met in fiji and got to have a natter but i was feelin a bit gutted that id left my last bus at this point. after the trek we got into river valley, which i had heard so much about by people i have met travelling, and it totally lived up to my expectations. its a little lodge in the middle of nowhere and they have 'slaves' working there, who basically work for free accommodation and food about an hour a day, one of the girls off our bus decided to stay at river valley and slave for a week and if i had time i would have done too, it was fantastic and the people were great, had an amazing night and got to know the people on the bus better through drinking games lol i even got my own room that night coz of the way the dorms worked and coz there were so few of us travelling, they put the couple in a double room, two of the guys in a twin room, melissa got put straight into 'slave' quaters so i had a room to myself not that i spent a lot of time in it - i was last to go to bed that night it was such an amazing place. the next morning i woke up (a little hungover) and i had a 2hr horse trek planned with 4 of the staff, had a great time although i wasnt keen on the horse i was on, ended up returning to the lodge late coz we got chattin whilst riding and even though my ankle seized up it was worth it. set off on the 5hr drive to wellington, stopping in a village called 'bulls' which has very cheesy shop names, the police station is called 'consta-bulls' and the toilets are 'relieva-bulls' fairly amusing! then we got to wellington, which is pretty much just a city, i went to the museum today which was quite fun as parts of it are aimed at kids so i got to play with stuff and touch lol, jez (the guy who i went to museum with) was gettin pretty annoyed waitin round for me to stop fiddling. another person off our coach headed back north today so there is now me, the couple, and jez left on the coach, luckily smiley the driver is a nice guy as well so at least we all get on, jez is pretty quiet though as hes pretty homesick and the couple are all lovey-dovey, never mind hopefully some more people will jump on along the way. i get the ferry at 7.30am tommorrow to nelson, im not looking forward to that boat ride in the least. anyways everyone i hope your all ok!
