So quick breakfast. Thankfully Mario from the Pousada fetched "the boy" for our bags so that we didn't need to take another walk of death along the sand carrying the rucksacks as we both thought we were going to faceplate the sand the last time. In typical Brazilian style, the boat was running a bit late. In typical German style, they all had to push to the front of the q. The boat took an hour, we hadn't been able to arrange a private transfer so when we arrived in Angra dos Reis we needed to get the service bus to paraty. Two hours Ina. Total sweat box. Upside was it only cost £3 but I'd have paid a premium for some air con. But it was a really interesting trip to watch people. The brazilians offer women, kids and old people seats without question. We even saw some school kids get on and the bus was full, so a guy who was sitting down held two of the kids' bags for then as they were weighed down. Then a mum got on with a wee boy who was maybe five and another woman asked him if he wanted to sit on get knee and up he got on their, total stranger. This sort of thing just couldn't happen in the UK as the parents would assume you were some sort of Jimmy Saville character. Most refreshing to see.
We arrived in paraty and it is HOT. staying in a hostel here, and it's cool. Clean, wee pool, nice area to lounge in and helpful staff. What more can you ask for.
Went a wander around the old town. It is stunning. Whitewash building with brightly coloured doors and lots of multi colour schooners bobbing up the side of the river. Tomorrow is our only full day here. So it's a toss up between boat trip and jeep tour. Will see what we feel like.
