Gemma's Travels
Hi guys!
Hope everyone is well.
Sorry its been so long, its a bit hard to get online sometimes!
So since i last wrote we've up to a fair bit.
We left Cinsta and went to Coffee Bay, it was a really beautiful place. We arrived in time for the full moon party which was really cool, a local tribe came up and did dancing, drumming and singing. We had our face painted with chalk and could join in with the drums, it was so much fun. We also got to do a drum lesson the next day, to be honest i actually suck at doing it but was good fun! We managed to get a bit of sunbathing in the next day although still not as brown as i would like!
After Coffee Bay we headed up to Durban. We were due to a Meet the Zulu Tour but is was cancelle due to being overbooked so did a one day safari - it was really good. We managed to see so many animals. we saw elephants, Rhino who had cute babies with them, giraffes, warthogs, wilderbeast and antelope. Was a really cool day although we were up at 5am! Never seen that time of day before!
After Durban we headed straight up to Jo'burg. Staying at the BackPackers Ritz which is a really nice hostal, nice and friendly. In a safe area which is cool as we were a bit worried about staying in Jo'burg but is been cool.
We then set of our 4 day safari - another early one picked up at 5. We then headed up to Kruger National Park. We had 4 days and 3 nights camping - really enjoyed camping it was so much fun, ate outside around a campfire. We had a cool group with us although one of them was an alcoholic, but it made it interesting when she cracked open the vodka at 9am each day!
Our last night was in a local village and we stayed in a mud hut, surprsingly warmer than we thought. the people that lived there prepared us tradtional food which we ate with our hands! They also did some tribal dancing and singing, all was so good. Mel got up at the end to join in, i luckily was designated photo taker!
It was such an amazing few days. Saw so many beautiful animals. Managed to get so close to a herd of elephants crossing our path with was so cool. We saw all big 5 exept leopards but it didnt matter as we saw so much else. We saw hippos which were so sweet as were the baby elephants. Rhinos were really close up as well. Ate lots of good food which me and mel got stuck into help to prepare. we did one night safari which was so good, we saw 3 lions which was so amazing. Have got some really good photos but still struggling with the uploading! Sorry!
Had such a good time, didnt really want to come back to a city but had too! It was a perfect way to end our South Africa trip, cant belive it is nearly over already and we are off the Perth in Oz tommorrow.
Speak to you soon
Fingers crossed internet and computers are better over there!
Lots of Love
