After a messy but delightful bank holiday weekend it was back to work Tuesday starting with the weekly clean and checks! Including checking on Mai. We then done a nest sweep and have concluded t here are lots of naughty LBBG nesting on the managed side of the island! We then went out to get the posts ready for the gull count and we made a sheep (although it may potentially have been a goat) stretcher to remove the dead one which had washed up on the jetty from the welsh valleys (speculation) imagine a rotting, waterlogged sheep-goat on a jetty in the sun all day! It stinks!
Wednesday was gull count day although because of the weather the gull counters are staying on the mainland leaving it down to us, we first went out of the rib (cue sea sickness). And count the herring gulls nesting on the sea cliffs! Then we ca,e onto land and the guys had been up since 6 working so we put out the ranging poles for the next days work.
Thursday morning... Up for a 7:30 start this morning, ergh, sarah was the best this ,ormimg and I was concerned that functioning wasn't going to an option for her this mornings! We were split into two teams! Me and Ross Verses Sarah, Matt and Jaime! Me and Ross had the Smellest error rate! Go team! And we seen some baby gulls! The Indian runner ducks are nesting too and one has five eggs! Harbour two is coming out tomorrow with Sam and essentials! Including sheep feed chicken feed and water!
Tonight we finished off ross's birthday cake we made for him and almond sponge with jam and icing and also chocolate orange cupcakes!
