First things first Sam returned to the island via Zapcat ness (is this in my last entry... losing the plot... see pictures it is hilarious but so cool! Thanks to Emilio and Darren who let me and sarah play on it after! Its the weekend... finally and having had an amazing day lying in the garden in the sun (or the wind and sun) Sarah has burned the backs of her legs, Ross' face is as red as a tomato and i finally have some tan lines! YAY. Ross is cooked dinner and while he was cooking me and sarah sneaked up to our lounge, the corner of the girls dorm is now a seating area curtosy of sarah lewis, and i got facepainted as a tiger! extremely well. Needless to say nobody was expecting it when i turned up to dinner and i managed to get a few second takes off Ross, Sam, Jamie and Matt. After dinner Sam, Jamie, Ross, Sarah and I went down to coal beach and had a bonfire some wine and G&Ts and sat until the sun went down! Another late night for the flatholmers.
The next day we sat in the garden again and just totally chilled out!
Monday, weekly checks and clean along with a nest sweep. These are getting pretty hardcore and tiring now there are so many nests on the managed side of the island. Mai has been let out into the paddock with the other female lambs and her mum and I think she is definitely boss now! I think if you can watch the video of her playing football on my facebook page! It is sooo funny and extremely cute.
Tuesday was admin day (I think or this could of been wednesday) not sure. I think this was wednesday actually and I cant remember what happened tuesday!
NEWSFLASH......we seen the first common lizard on the island for two years and are happy to report it was alive and by sight well. This is extremely important as it was thought they has been lost from the island because of the extemely hot and dry summer we had in 2010. Ross and Sam felt a bit silly for ever making fun of Matt saying there was lizards on the island and matt was very modest and didnt bask in the glory at all... :/
Wednesday I completed the right up for the vegetation survey i done (possibly monday or tuesday or friday :) and then moved onto the slow worm surveys from 2011. There was a mad rush mid day because Sarah and Ross needed to get off the island to go and do the biodiversity day in Cardiff museum and if they didnt leave that evening with harbour II then they wouldnt make it! Cue, running around like idiots and then did you see how fast we unloaded and reloaded harbour II (Time lapse video)
The rest of the week was pretty subdued there was butterfly survey and a lady bird survey and Ross did manage to get in on his first slow worm survey action, although this was obs before wednesday!
And so its the weekend again and we are two muskateers down in Ross and Sarah, saturday was spent mainly baking between me and sam... we had sundried tomato and olive bread, chocolate muffins and spicy bread pudding. We also watched airplane an amazing film which Jamie just didnt find funny enough for our liking.
And Sunday I slept in until late had cheese on toast and sat in the sun, What more could a girl want on her sunday?
And finally monday, up early door as Martin on the westward ho picked me up for some time at home.. hopefully I wont be stranded off the island for too long as the Lewis is still broken (Karl.. work harder)
