we got up at 6.30am on this day to make sure we were at the ferry in time. it was a 45 minute ferry ride over to Rottnest Island, and we spent all day snorkelling. we had hire bikes, and rode our way around the island to the different bays. they looked like picture-postcard bays, with real blue and green waters. crystal clear though, and full of fish. gem had mastered snorkeling by the second bay, and was soon over her fear of deap water and swimming out a couple of hundred metres out into shark territory lol!! no sharks tho, just some big fish and a stingray at the end! we also saw some quokkas while we ate lunch, they are small creatures that look like a massive rat crossed with a kangaroo!! cos it bounces along on it's massive back legs, and stands up like one. check out the rottnest photo's, and see gem stroking one. they were so tame.
our return ferry was at 3pm, so we had to make a move sooner than we wanted. we both love snorkeling now, and will be doing much more!
