Woohoo!
I've made it to Val D'Isere, which is where I had my heart set on when I applied, so it pretty much goes without saying that I'm chuffed to bits!
We got here yesterday lunchtime, it's only about an hour and a half road trip from Meribel, so it was no bother. I'm gonna be working in a Club Chalet, which suits me down to the ground as I'll have a chef to do all the cooking, and 2 other hosts working with me to look after up to 42 guests. On first impressions the place is pretty basic, and more like a hostel than a chalet, but we've got some new furniture and stuff to bring in and spruse it up, so it's all good. I haven't seen my staff accommodation yet because our manager hasn't got the keys to all the properties, so for now we are all staying in the one chalet, which is the one I'll work in for the rest of the season.
I'm already loving Val D'Isere, the scenery is beautiful and there's loads to do before you even think of getting on the slopes. I've been on a few walks of discovery but I need to get familiar with the place because our first customers arrive on the 9th and I'm sure they'll be full of questions. Till then we've got major clean up to do, and more training modules, but thankfully we had time to chill out this morning, our first lay-in since leaving the UK. There's a ridiculous amount of cool shops here, so I'm gonna have to hope for some fat tips and treat myself!
Checked out a few of the bars already, but because it's still so early in the season not everywhere is open yet. It's cool being here right from the start, and going snowboarding on Christmas day is compulsory! Our manager has already planned out where we're meeting up , and is sorting out a secret santa thing for us so we get to open at least one Christmas prezzie up the mountain. Cool, cool, cool.
Anyway, I'll chip off for now - love & stuff. x x x
