Angela's Escape from the Rat Race
Hello, hello!
I've crammed in a lot of adventure since I last wrote here! Once Camp finished we had a day to do clear-up, and then the goodbyes started! Some people headed straight home, but most of us are making the most of being out here and seeing as much as we can.
On the 14th, 22 of us boarded 'The Sovereign of The Seas' for our four day cruise to, and around the Bahamas. It was awesome! Within 10 minutes of us setting off from Port Canaveral I saw a huge sea turtle bobbing along by the side of us. As we went from place to place the water took on more various shades of blue and green than I ever thought could exist. I was quite freaked out by the deepest, darkest blue when we were in the middle of nowhere, it just seemed endless.
Our trip first took us to Nassau - the Bahaman Capital. We docked there at night, so got dolled up and hit the town. Unfortunatley I broke my camera in a drunken haze - hence the lack of pictures on the site - but we had a wicked time there. We stayed overnight and had the whole of the next day too. The beach was pure paradise, (probably because we took a boat to an area called Paradise Island!) We just chilled there all day and let the hangover pass - good choice! I properly swam in the sea, like I haven't since I was a kid, on holiday with my grandparents! The water was so clear I could see all the tiny fish darting about around me, and it was so salty I could float with no effort at all.
Next we stopped at a tiny island called CocoCay which is actually owned by the cruise company. That was another gem of a place. I got there early and had a go at parasailing, which I would recommend to anyone and everyone!! Top notch. The rest of the day I spent either lounging in a hammock, (just as you would picture it - suspended between two palm trees) or floating about, topping up the tan, on a foam mat thing I got free with my Parasail experience. I loved it! Except when I got freaked out by a huge, 2foot long fish swimming by me (I'm such a girl!) Everyone was saying was a baracuda but I didn't stick around long enough to check it out!
Now the cruise seems a distant memory, and after more goodbyes 10 of us headed onto Miami. We got here late so we're staying in Downtown at the moment. We've been to Coconut Grove today, which was proper nice, and tomorrow the group splits again and me and the girls head on to South Beach - woohoo!
I'll keep you posted! x x x
