I spent 3 days in the city of Arica, the border town between Chile and Peru, it was probably a day too long but it was nice to have a little time just to chill out and not do much at all.
On the first day I went to the local market and being a Saturday it was packed which was a lot of fun, my Spanish has gotten good enough for me to talk to the street vendors and bargain a little although Chileans don't budge all that much I picked you some awesome handmade stuff to bring home for a couple of people and a few things for myself.
The second day was relaxing and planning for Peru, I went for a run along the beach in the morning and then just chilled out listening to music lying on the sand summer has come a little early for me this year, after lunch in the market again, I headed back to the motel where Marco had put me up for a couple of night since he was sick and didn't want to give me anything, and pretty much planned out the rest of my trip in Peru to make it to Lima in time for my flight home on the 14th.
The last day was just relaxing again heading to the beach and doing some of the more touristy things in town. That night I started to get extremely nervous for the border crossing into Peru even with all the research I still only had a general idea of what was going to happen...but I jumped in the deep end coming to South America for a reason.
I made it to the top of Chile finally after countless hours being spent on the buses going from almost the bottom of Chile all the way north, and I've had such an amazing time and met so many good people on this leg of the trip.
