So last night I ended up at the island of Ischia, which is beautiful.

Unfortunately I landed at the wrong hotel. The RIGHT hotel has the same name but was a 2 hour ferry ride and 1 hour train ride away ...

Yep, still trying to work out how that happened. Ended up staying the night, and will take a ferry to Sorrento this morning.

The hotel was weird. It has a pool (definitely appreciated in my hot & sweaty state). Dinner was included and was ... interesting.

They only serve for a short period of time. I headed to the bar beforehand only to find it completely empty, and no one serving. There was a mad rush for the restaurant when it opened - retirees as far as the eye could see, with a scattering of families.

There was a selection of antipasto to start, followed by a choice of 2 (undercooked) pastas. The main was mystery schnitzel and mashed potato (no other veggies) - if you think of the quality of the average frozen meal, that would have dramatically surpassed what I was served last night.

Thankfully there was wine, so I filled up on that. It's a good thing I didn't come to Italy for the food - no, that's right, I did. Strangely I've decided to skip breakfast.

I'm now waiting at the front desk to check out - I've only been waiting 30 minutes so far ...
