Hey everyone,
Afraid I've got a bit behind so I'm going to do my best to get things back up to speed!
Having said a sad farewell to Borneo, Sam and myself headed over to peninsular Malaysia then across the border to Singapore. You know when you have arrived in Singapore because everything is clean, eerily so, and orderly. You are never unsure what you should be doing as there is almost certainly a sign to let you know i.e. 'no loitering'! I love to loiter so this came as a great disappoint for me!
We headed to Stephen's (Sam's mum's cousin) house in the leafy suburbs of Singapore and later that day we met back up with Pie and J. The whole family were incredibly kind and hospitable and we enjoyed roast chicken and roast potatoes on the first night, pure gastronomic indulgence! We also enjoyed a lovely meal the next day in the centre of town and had our first draught beer for months.
J left us the second morning along with Pie but we soon got Pie back after he lost his passport! We feared the worst but by a stroke of luck someone had found his passport on the bus and returned it to the British Embasy.
On my final day, Pie, Sam and myself headed into Singapore for a bit of shopping and a look around. Before my evening flight I was able to fit in a game of badminton with Stephens young daughter Libby and we managed a rally of 72, I reckon it is a Singaporean or possibly even a world record!
That evening I caught my flight to Adelaide to meet up with my mate. After an hour or so of the flight it dawned on me that I was leaving Asia after almost three and a half months and I got a bit sentimental (not crying or anything!). Luckily, I reckon the flight attendants must have sensed this and shook up a beer for me! The moment I pull the opener it sprayed all over me! From then on I set to work chosing a movie for the flight and got myself primed for Oz.
