Gary's World Tour!!
Well - we have made it to Thailand - and to Bangkok, it has been without doubt 24hrs of total chaos that none of us will ever forget! As you are all probably aware the military coup occured last nite on our first night - but we are all fine and other than tanks on the streets there is nothing else happening here to make it appear anymore different! i do need to put it in its humorous context tho- because all 3 of us have been laughing pretty much non stop since we arrived! At the time the coup took place, we were racing around Bangkok on the back of a crazy thai man's tuk tuk - as he pulled wheelys and all sorts as we held on for dear life! (we did query the tanks rolling past briefly, but we didnt think much of it!) We then went to a few bars and had quite a bit to drink and eat, before ending up in an Irish pub listening to a Thai Sting tribute band - when the news broke on tele about what was going on! We all went home about 1am and drank the mini bar in the hotel, a luxury we cannot get used to! Today we have done very litte, some shopping, and 2meals - both buffets -one which involves boiling water to cook both your meat and your veg in - very random! Plus we have been frequenting the bars! Bangkok is without doubt the craziest place ive ever been to - and that was before the military coup! Anyway, ill end it here - just thought id get an early post up to let u all know we are alright despite the bizare concept of living in a country with no constitution and running under martial law! Will write again when we get to chaing mai in about a weeks time, we intend to go west first before that. Speak to u soon, look forward to hearing your news, Gaz x
