Greetings once again readers, heres another update in the crazy world of Gary as he continues his merry march around the world........apart from the fact I am still in the same place 3 months on!! Pray tell, i hear you say - why has this happened? What happened to the motivation to traverse the globe and be home in 80 days?! Well we are now onto day 135 and still going strong - and although both me and Jammo have more than enough reason to stay - time is now afoot for us to leave the Sydney sprawl and head off to pastures new!
Melbourne - Adelaide - Alice Springs - Cairns - Brisbane - and then back to Sydney for March 19th and our flight to Auckland!
Since christmas it has been a real rollercoaster of a month - Punctuated by 2 things - the arrival of Josh of the White - our good friend from sunny Yateley - and a few weeks later by the arrival of his mate Emma Burnleys Finest - or belch machine as we like to call her behind her back! On the day josh arrived we thought he may want some sleep, but we were mistaken - as Jammo slept off the night before Josh and I headed off to the SCG to collect tickets for the 20-20 game we went to see - and ended up in a pub at midday and drunk and falling over by 6pm - I dont remember a lot of the day - only the free pool and UB40 being played lots......
When the cricket itself came around - well, as with most of the cricket England have played since we got here - I expect they wished they hadnt bothered coming......! The match itself was in the middle of a week where I began a new job in a vastly different field - Telesales again, this time a treck out to the suburbs on the train was required, the company were trying to screw you out of any penny they could get by not paying you if you came off the computer at any point - so I lasted just 7 days before walking out very melodramatically!
Since then I have been enjoying my new found freedom and lack of employment status - finally getting out and about and seeing some bits and pieces of Sydney, whilst also abusing our flats blockbuster video rental card! I have finally been to Bondi beach, and I have been to Taronga Zoo - a really wicked day, so good in fact that i celebrated by going to an all you can eat mussels restaurant with Krystle - and loosing my phone in a taxi in the meantime! Its only taken me 4 months to finally loose something so i was doing quite well........! Fortunatley for me Josh, Emma and Sal have plenty of zoo photos which i have put on the site - My favorite being the Komodo dragon - it was just imense!!
This weekend here has also been excellent. Friday was Australia day, and so in typical form Me, josh and jammo got drunk the night before - so ruining the aussie equivilant of a bank holiday.....! oops! Still, the house enjoyed us coming in at 7am and waking up everyone because Josh was bleeding everywhere after cutting himself jumping trollies.......
By the evening we had recovered enough to get fully envolved jumping at a gig at Luna park - My chemical romance have no converted at least me and sal into fully fledged emo rockers - But why, WHY do Emo's wear backpacks at gigs?!! Answers on a postcard please....
Over the weekend we hired cars - and Josh and I were the designated drivers. It took me a while to get used to driving again, especially a 4 litre mondeo estate automatic - but its like riding a bike really! Plus it had to be by the time we got to the blue mountains, and ended up dirt tracking to a campsite 10 miles from civilisation and particularly concerning for some people - any phone signal!
And just to finish off this update - 3 hours after arriving, Jammo and I are off on a food shop when we get a call from Josh - he's broken down, flat battery........ "Alpha 5 recieving - Can you do a jump start please, yeah - its in the blue mountains......."! You can take the boys out of Blackbushe, but you cant take Blackbushe out of the boys.......!
Anyone need a pair of jumpleads by the way?
