Waiting for the bus at the closed BP service station in Elliot from10:15pm until 11:00 pm, when most of the town were in bed, was quite surreal. With just a street light for company and a few mozzies, I was a bit anxious after the publican said that the bus can be early and if you are not there he won't stop. When we got aboard most passengers from Darwin were asleep and we had to step around legs poking out to find our seats. The bus was not crowded so we had two seats each to stretch out, bonus. The bus stops to drop off and pick up mail from the towns on route. At Tenant Creek at 2:30am in the morning all the Alice passengers had to get off the bus at the servo to have a drink and something to eat while the driver took the Tenant Creek passengers to the terminal. Then he came back for us, got himself a coffee and headed back to the bus terminal to load parcels for about 30 mins. We had another stop at 6:30am for breakfast but didn't feel like it then.We arrived at Alice at 9:30am. We had a restless night on the bus, changing positions constantly. When we arrived in Alice Springs we arranged a shuttle bus to the airport and went to have breakfast in the Todd mall in the sunshine, it was a little cool in the shade this morning. As usual shuttle buses take you around and around the town picking up everyone else from their accommodation. It took about an hour to get there. Then our plane was delayed by 50 mins due to fog in Adelaide in the morning. Arrived in Adelaide about 3:30pm, relieved to be here. Theresa, Wayne and Archie picked us up from the airport and Shane, Molly and Alice came over, and Judith our much appreciated house sitter welcomed us back with a delicious home cooked meal. It's great to be home!
