Gary's World Adventure
Ive decided Ive had more than my stomach can take of Bangkok and now headed west towards to Kanchanaburi for a few days with Nia (a welsh girl Ive hooked up with from hostel in Bangkok).
The train journey there was not at all what I expected..it only took 4hrs and went through some lovely scenery and into the mountain's of west thailand.
In Kanchanaburi we decided on staying right on the river kwai in some huts that were on stilts (you will never believe it til I show you the photos) and might I add my room was riddled with ants, which I was not happy about...well with that and cold showers no wonder it was sooo cheap oh yeah and the bed shock in the nyte (probably because on stilts)when we had tropical storms I felt like I was on the titanic.
On Saturday 01/10/05 Nia and myself went to Erwan National park where there was the most amazing waterfall with 7 tiers...it was like paradise and definately the highlight of my trip so far.
The next day I decided a haircut was in need (well Ive not had it cut for about 2wks) and also a thai massage which was like heaven...then a walk to the bridge over river kwai which was really eiry to think that soo many people had died making the bridge I was walking over...Then I spent the afternoon lyed on the banks of the river kwai reading a book...this is the life.
Nia had her purse stolen the same nyte by some random motorcycle taxi guys...I swear they would rob their own family over her...well later that nyte I got one over on them anyway...I phoned home to Lisa, after which I gave the lady 100bt and she just gave me the same money back in change so I just walked off...a free phone call home not bad.
Well I think that after 8days travelling Im now adjusted to the fact that I cannot keep myself clean or sweat free and that my skin will come out in spots more by the day and that I have to just get used to cold showers oh yeah and wipe myself down with the days before clothes as I have had to do now for 2 days. Oh this is the life eh? I honestly did not think life would be this hard whilst travelling, its not all waterfalls and beaches....there is the matter of packing everything back up every couple of days to move on when you have got settled...then having to say goodbye to people you get friendly with. AND the worst bit carrying that bloody big rucksack everywhere I go...Im honestly gonna throw it before the end of the trip and just stay in the clothes I am wearing at the time....oh the fun eh? And Im missing home too and family and friends.
Oh well its time to pack my stuff up and think about moving on somewhere else....bye for now xxx
