Gary's World Adventure
Well first of all Im gonna start by saying the trek was the most amazing thing ever and I saw some things many of us would ever dream about...!
The first day we were taken 3hrs into the jungle and stopped at a couple of different tribe villages, then had to walk for another 3hrs through some of the most lush rice fields, over rivers and into the depth of what is Thailands jungle, where we saw wild boar and other different animals.
The first night we spent in a tiny village, me being me asked about for alcohol as one of the group with me had a guitar and lets face it my idea of a good night is not going to bed at 7pm especially not on a saturday night, bear in mind it gets dark here about 6.30pm..we one of the local villagers sold me a bottle of home brew rice whisky only anout 90p..bargain. Well with that polished off and everyone personalities coming out at last (sorry guys only jokin, you all know I love you) I decided there must be more if its home brew by this time the guide and every villager had gone bed and left us in the middle of dark wilderness...well me being me took a head light and with Kelvin(from singapore) went for a wonder...well guess what I stumbled upon? I heard talking in the dark and came across an old thai couple and their daughter and husband sat around a fire drinking...they invite me and kelvin to join them...so after a whisky the whole groupe of us spent the evening sat around a fire in a hut on stilts with local thai's and 4 bottles of whisky...they said we were the only farang (english) that had ever been in their house. This was one very good night, the old lady took a shining to me and I felt very honoured to be in her home.
At 2am trying to stumble back to our hut I fell from the top of the thai's house..oh the fun.
Day 2 brought more trekking and an early start (which we all know I dont do at the best of times especially with an hangover too) and then the joy of elephant rides, which was completley not a joy. I hated it, oh might add it took me a good 20mins to board mine, I was shaking..mid got on then ran off..well their too big and very furry. Well Ive had plenty of fun and with a numb ass I dont think it was fun...experience yes but not fun. And I last the whole hour..not like Glen who jumped off after 5mins...ha ha but we levelled up when I would not jump off the cliff into waterfall...well not in daylight anyway but did do later when went skinny dipping at about 12pm....oh the fun.
Later on day 2 me and Glen parted company with the rest of the group as we were the only ones doing a 2night 3day.
Day 3 brought a lye in thankfully because me and Glen drank another 3 bottles of whisky with our guide and the thai owner...also italian guy (cant remember his name) but had loads of fun.
This day was my worst I had such a hangover thankfully opted for the truck to come pick us up instead of walking..then onto bamboo rafting..which was excellent except the bamboo got stuck in a rock and I was sat at the back of the raft admiring the view and nursing my hangover when whack the bamboo hit me in the face which followed a think lip...if I didnt laugh I'd of cried....its all fun I kept re-assuring myself.
Conclusion.....The jungle was fantastic and I enjoyed every minute..oh okay maybe even the elephants for a slight minute.
