Hi everyone!
Landed in Sydney to shocking heat - 27 degrees when we arrived, and 32 today!
Yesterday we visited the Botanical Gardens and saw lots of grey headed fruit bats, hanging upsidedown in the trees, fanning themselves in the heat! We stopped for lunch, where Australian Ibises jumped up on tables, smashed plates and stole people's frappucinos. We also saw some Cockatoos which are scarily large and a bit edgy...
We walked along the coastline from Bondi to Coogee beach. It's a beautiful walk, and only about 5km, although it took us about 5 hours to do it in the blistering heat!
Today my camera broke, so we had to buy a new one. Gareth has just discovered pictures of a Chinese man on the internal memory....
I took my new shiny toy on our helicopter tour of Sydney this morning. It truly is the best way to see Sydney. The city is built on a natural harbour, so there are lots of stunning beaches and most of the city is surrounded by forest. Afterwards, we sat outside at the Opera House bar with a glass of wine, overlooking Sydney Harbour Bridge.
This evening we are heading over to Sydney Opera House to see the Australian ballet and then tomorrow southwards to Tasmania where we'll be camping for a few days!
