We got into Chiang Mai at 7:00am on Saturday. We found a place to stay called Chiang Mai Inn guest house. For the rest of Saturday morning Garath slept and I was on the computer.
In the afternoon we met Rob, a good friend of mine from college who I haven't seen properly in about 7 years. He was with another of our friends from college called Kim who has been living in Chiang Mai for the last 3 years, they also bought along Gav who was traveling with Rob for a while. We sat and had a mid afternoon beer and arranged to meet later that night. We met the guys later that night and went for some drinks in the local student area, where no tourists were about. It was very loud and very cool, we later hit the tourist spot simply called "Reggae Street".
Sunday we nursed our hangovers in the morning and in the afternoon we went to the Sunday market. The market was enormous! We had some amazing food there, Garath had Pad-Thai in Omlette and I had a Spicy Papaya Salad. We shared some Sushi and had mixed fruit shakes, Mmmmmmm.
Monday we woke up late again, we met 2 English sisters from Brighton, Georgia and Holly. We arranged to spend the next day with them on a day trip to jungle flight, the longest zipline in Thailand. In the evening we went to the night market which was big but not as big as the Sunday market.
After the market we all went to the hospital to get Georgia's passport. She had been the day before with food poisoning, and the hospital had taken her passport as deposit until the insurance company came through with the £280 owed. This amount of money seemed like alot to me for a few hours in a bed and a rehydration sachet, however they had charged her for everything, from the cleaning of the sheets after she had been on the bed, to the rubber gloves the nurse had used. Every penny had been billed to Georgia and the insurance company couldn't pay up, so she had to pay the bill to get her passport back, then she would be reimbursed the money when she got back to the UK, probably.
