Hi Jean You must be jolly fit doing the Inca Trail to The Sungate. Don and I took one look and said thats not for us. I have just seen a picture on the web looking down from the top and it looks amazing, wish I had had a go now. I expect your second visit staying two nights is even better than the first. We can't wait to see your photos when you get home, what a book you will create this time. The Havana Rakatan was very disappointing. The dancing was great but the music was so loud our ears were hurting and we left at the interval as we could not take another hour of it. It is bank holiday weekend here and we are having a family barbecue on Sunday as the weather is meant to be nice. it has been glorious today and I went with Diana to Exbury, the Rothchild garden in the New Forest. All the Azaleas and Rhodedendrums were out and it was so beautiful it took your breathe away. Glad you have got a new friend to go around with. You must have met so many interesting people in your travels. Don't forget the guinea pig! ! L Gill X X X

Hi Jean Your ears should be tingling or your nose itching as we have just been to Roger and Ann's 70th birthday bash which was at Rachel and Stuart's. A lovely barbecue and at least the sun was shining but the wind was so strong it nearly blew the mini marquee away. Anyway a toast was drunk to absent friends including yourself and we all thought of you up in the Andes of Peru and wondered what exciting thing you were doing this weekend . look forward to your next blog .L Gill P.S. I am going with Ann on Tuesday to Havana Rakatan, the dance group that Stephen Purvis brings over from Cuba

Hi Jean,
I'm a complete stranger and have just set up an offexploring blog as I'm off to Peru at the end of this month. I'm 60 and will be travelling alone, so when "Gapper Gran" appeared on the list of recently updated blogs I had to take a peek, and what an inspiring read it was! I was very impressed that your psoriasis has disappeared - I'm hoping my rheumatoid arthritis will do the same. Enjoy the rest of your trip. Jill

P.S. Cameron is staying the night and sends his love

Hi Jean Have just read your todays blog. I am very envious of your trip rpound the islands . Wish I could have been there with you. I did wonder about the sea sickness when you said that you were going, remembering your crossing the channel years ago and having to have an injection in your butt (an american expression which I am told is not rude). I ecpect you will be glad to get to Cusco after Lima. You will have more time to enjoy and absorb it this time round. Do go to the market. It is very interesting but not for the squeamish. The food looked very good but we did not have time to sample it. I challenge you to have a go at the guinea pig delicacy! ! Keep the blogs coming we are all enjoying them so much. Roger B has one of his Gill's printing them off for him . Til the next time Love Gill and Don X X X

Jean - Happy, happy birthday to you. What a wonderful place to spend your birthday! It sounds as if you are in paradise. Your discriptions are so wonderful it makes us feel that we are there with you! Terry and I enjoyed our time at the Masters so very much, wonderful weather, organisation, beautiful course and a very well behaved crowd - the golf was not too bad either! Followed by a lovely visit to Gill and Don - what a delightful setting their home is in. Hope you are keeping well - we look forward so very much to your next adventure.
Keep safe

Hi Jean,
Hope you are well and many happy returns of yesterday!
We are so enjoying your newsletters. It sounds as if you have made so many friends on your travels. We had no idea that anyone actually lived on the Galapigos Islands, except for a few guardians of the animals - how wrong we were! It sounds very much like life anywhere. We are sure you have done the right thing to leave Isabela; the set up sounds very Spanish!
All is "chugging" along as usual here. The media are having a field day over the "swine 'flu" outbreak and cover every aspect except how exactly it differs from "ordinary" 'flu. We are sorry that you will not be at ourbirthday BBQ. I expect you heard that Roger failed his French driving test, so it is now unlikely that he will be able to leave France as he was hoping to join us. We shall raise a glass to the "Bowen's".
Megan is growing up - talking a bit - mostly nonsense, but with odd words making sense - usually "no". She is now 19 months - not much hair but masses of energy. Rachel and Stu are getting married at Cannizaro House on Wimbledon Common in August next year!
Booked up the Proms for Wednesday 12th August, but have not yet received the tickets for the Handel 250th anniversary - lots of great favourites in the programme.
Keep well. Love from us both, Ann and Roger

Hi Jean Just read your todays blog . Glad you are having a better time with the teaching but it doesn't sound as if they are making use of your experience , it must be very frustrating for you. Can't believe Teresa and Terry have been with us five days now and they only have two more to go We have just been up to a golf club in Sebastian where a whole group of our friends ,English and American, get together on a Saturday to play golf (Teresa and I just drive the cart and Caddy! !) Today we went back afterwards to one of the Americans houses for food and booze as it was her birthday. Spoke to Roger B yesterday. I'm afraid he failed his theory test so don't know now what he is going to do about coming back in May. I passed your message on to Anne re the Proms but we will not know for a while if she has got the tickets. She usually does. Have a good time at your French wedding L. Gill Everyone sends their love & X X X 's
