The World through my Eyes
Today was really exciting. I was fortunate enough to meet with Cardinal Szoka. He is the president of the Vatican City-State. Orginally he is from Michigan and was a Bishop in Gaylord. When I contacted him on the phone, he seemed very gruff and angry, but when I met him in person, he was very nice. Much shorter then I would have thought though, Probably only about my height. Most everyone in the Vatican was very nice helping me find my way to his office. The swiss guards were not as friendly as I would have thought. Maybe they we just tired of wearing the outfits. Maybe they were bitter about that. Anyway, it was an amazing experiance. behind St. Peter's Basilica, there is a beautiful building where all the offices are held. Also, all around are lovely gardens and a great view of St. Peter's. I am still having a wonderful time in Rome. Also, I found a grocery store that sells peanut butter, a small-- half size of what we have in the United States-- jar of Skippy peanut butter is 6 euros. I didn't get any, but I got chips and salsa. It's amazing.
Last night, while walking down the spiral staircase, I tripped and fell though. It really hurt. I now have a massive bruise on my back, along with all 5 toes on my left foot are bruising and still swollon. But, I was still able to wear 3 inch stiletto heals to the Vatican. Every step hurt like the devil. but I didn't want to look bad. I have almost mastered the art of walking in heals on the cobblestone. It is way more complex then I would have ever thought. Someday, when I return back to Rome to live, I will be able to use these talents once again......
