Paul and Jack had a big day for their second last day in America. Up early then off to Kennedy Space Centre at Cape Canaveral for their Astronaut Training Experience. They met an ex astronaut Winston Scott who talked to their small group about his experiences. Their highlight was experiencing multi axis training which involved being harnessed into a seat and being spun around the three axis'. They were also given NASA roles. Paul was given the job of the Voice of NASA. Jack and Mitch were mission specialists carrying out scientific experiments. A small explosion was noted.
It turned out to be one of the best days of their trip.
Meanwhile, Issy and I slept in, devoured a buffet breakfast, did last minute washing and packing and hired a bike for a ride around the resort. Oh, and sat by the pool with a cocktail and read a little. It was a nice way to spend our last day. When the boys got home around 7pm, we went up the road for a quick dinner then home for a 4 hour sleep to be up early for our flight to Dallas.
We arrived in Dallas this morning at 8am and caught a taxi to Megan's hotel (Jack and Issy's cousin). She is lucky enough to be based in Dallas for work for stints during the year. She took us out for breakfast, drove us around to some picturesque estates and did some last minute shopping. We then went and enjoyed a Texas BBQ of ribs, brisket and a delicious mint Julep. We were so full, buttons had to be undone! After lunch, Megan drove us to Daley Plaza, where JFK was shot. The museum was interesting but not enough time to take it all in. A quick freshen up and change back at Megan's luxury hotel and off to the airport we go. Fingers crossed we will be on the flight and home on Tuesday.
What a fantastic trip we've had, although too quick. Some funny and memorable moments to talk about for years to come! V x
