It took about 4 1/2 hrs to drive to Key west this morning. All was going well until there was a very nasty accident almost near Key west. We were held up and as its one way in, one way out there was no choice but to be patient. Paul spoke to some holiday makers behind us as Jack and I stretched our legs and walked up ahead to one of the 42 bridges and admired the view. The hold up cost us about half an hour. We hope the people involved are well and on the mend. We are staying at Casa 325 which is on the Main Street and is an old 1920's guest house. There is a very wide verandah with white rocking chairs, white inside furniture with wide floors boards and white lounges. We love it! Key west is full of character homes from the early 1900's, lots of palm trees with some Cuban influence. It's gorgeous and we all feel at home- reminds us of home and Forster. Maybe it's the weather though. We had hotdogs for lunch then did an hour and half trolley/bus tour to get our bearings and discover some history. We strolled the streets buying souvenirs and watching the two massive cruise ships set sail for the Caribbean Islands. It is so nice to wear singlets and shorts again and feel the heat. New York feels like so long ago! This is the home of key lime pie and certainly didn't disappoint at dessert tonight!! Yum!
