It's been quite difficult not to love Fiji. Not that we've really done much other than tan, read copious amounts of books picked up along the way, and laze around on the beach and in a hammock under the coconut trees. :-)
We arrived late in the evening, and although exhausted, we were whisked off to a travel agency in the airport to sort out our plan for the following 9 or so days. Which eventually worked out as 4 nights on Mana Island which is just off the west coast of Vita Levu (the main island with the airport), in the Mamanuca Island group, then followed by another 4 nights in the nearby island of Malolo. Since arriving to Mana 3 days ago after a relatively quick jet boat ride from the main island (and greated by songs and guitars and dances), we have spent most of our days doing ... well, nothing. I've set up camp with my book on the nearby hammocks outside our rather rustic dorm room (a tap for a shower, the electricity only gets turned on at 6pm, a fan in the room that doesnt work, and running water which stops running after like 6 or 7pm. But its awesome!). Other than that, some tanning, some swimming, some exploring of the island, eating, watching the sunsets ... Its all very picturesque, the sea is a perfect variety of blues, I even found myself a stretch of deserted beach just to myself yesterday. It was very quiet, and really beautiful. Basically, it's exactly what you can imagine Fiji to be like. Tonight is our last night on Mana, then its off to Mololo tomorrow afternoon for what I assume will be yet another 4 days of doing ... not much. :-)
