Hi! My first entry from a hostel! I am in Munich at the moment. . . currently trying to pass the afternoon until the next oktoberfest sesssion tonight. Got here yesterday at 5 after catching the two hour train from the Langners house. The hostel is great... four beds in our room and im with a girl and her two brothers from Brisbane, who I will probably spend the night with tonight. Last night I decided to be a part of 'Munichs Beer Challenge' - supposedly a good way to meet people and explore some of Munich's best beer gardens before heading to the Oktoberfest. It was amazing, pretty much all Aussies so it was great to hear about home. Learnt some awesome german beer songs and spent all night singing them in the tents... also went on some crazy rollercoaster which was an experience!
Also went to the Oktoberfest on Sunday with my gorgeous German family. It was so much fun to go there dressed in a Dirndl.... almost everyone is dressed up and drinking from early in the day. I didnt expect there to be me so many rides and sideshows but the beer tents were just as I imagined. My favourite was the Hippodram, which is all red inside.... so busy though its impossible to get a seat! The photo with this blog was taken from the top of a ride... the flying seats were so high! But it gives you an idea of how huge it is and how many people there are! Its kind of hard to convey how incredibel it is, its really just something you have to experience for yourself!
It was hard leaving the Langner house yesterday, because I had such a good time with the girls. But also excited about trekking off on my own, so there were many mixed emotions. Today I woke up and probs spent an hour walking around trying to find Marienplatz - the main square in Munich. I think the best way to get to know a town is get lost walking around! I saw so many cute little cafes and shops in the alleys! Also went to some expensive department store with all these brands gucci, prada, burberry, louis vuiton etc i think some of you girls would have been excited! Also watrched the clock people move on the hour... not that exciting but supposedly a must see in Munich.
Im heading off to Paris tomorrow morning, so probably wont be an extremely late night... especially with the 13 hour bus trip! Staying there 3 nights and then its off to Amsterdam. So you will be hearing from me soon as I tell some new tales from France! Hope eevryone is well. Love xxxx
