Wow!Show me those neon lights!
Japan certainly is an interesting coubtry and that is why we chose to spend 4 nights here in Tokyo.
Things are very expensive, so we`ll keep it sinple and cut down on the shopping.
But first we have to tell you all about our 4 nights in New Zealand:
We came 0515AM on thursday and went straight on a tour bus out of Auckland and southwards into the interior of the north island.
First we went "Blackwater Rafting" in a cave in Waitomo.REally cool and very dark.Haha! We then headed further south to Roturua where we spent our first nioght. We were really jetlagged since we only got 2-3 hours of sleep on the flight from Perth and had such an early start.
The next day we stayed in Rotarua and went Whitewater Rafting on the Waituna river. We rafted down some waterfalls aswell, including a 7meter vertical drop!Got really wet and was completely submerged in the river!
We were supposed to do "Zorbing" after the rafting that day, but we had a bit of bad luck and we didn`t make it that day.
The next day we hopped back on the bus and travelled further south towards Taup which is situated on Lake Taupo. On the way we stopped several places to get a good look at all the geothermal activity around Rotarua such as bubbeling mud and geysiers. Rotarua really is a smelly place due to all the sulphur in the air!Haha!
In Taupo me and Eirik did something that completely changed our view of FUN: SKYDIVING!
We went up to 12,000 feet and were strapped on to an instructer and then flunged out of the aircraft hurling down to the ground at 200km/h! I couldn`t do anything but scream from the top of my lungs from a genuine death-fear! We even got to fall through a cloudm which really gives you a perspective on just how fast you are falling!
That night we really partyed with the skydiving instructors and the others that we jumped with in Taupo.
The next morning me and Eirik went and did our final adrenalin-stunt:Bungey-jumping!
We jumped off a ramp that was 47metres above the Taupo river and "water-toutced", or should I say, in Eirik`s case; a full babtism all the way down to the anckles! I only got my head and shoulders wet, but Eirik got the whole nine yards!
We then went on the 5-hour intercity express bus up to Auckland again for our final night in the southern hemisphere.
Next morning it was out to the airport for the 10 1/2 hour flight northbound to Tokyo.
So now where here in the good-old northern hemisphere where we belong. It`s cold here in Japan, and yesterday I spoke to Karsten and realized it was actually colder here in Japan than in Norway!
Tonight we`re meeting a GoldmanSachs business aquiantance I have from DnB NOR and going out for some drinks in Roppongi, but we`ll have to watch our spending `cause it sure is expensive here in Tokyo!
Se you all soon!
